DUNCAN CRARY LIVES, WORKS AND PLAYS in Troy, New York. He is your host and producer of A Small American City podcast.

From 2008 to 2012, Crary was the host and producer of The KunstlerCast, a weekly talkshow podcast featuring urban polemicist James Howard Kunstler. In 2011, Crary authored a book based on the series: The KunstlerCast: Conversations with James Howard Kunstler…the tragic comedy of suburban sprawl (New Society Publishers).

He has also recorded face-to-face podcast interviews with many notable personalities, including Sir Salman Rushdie, E.O. Wilson and Christopher Hitchens. He has worked as a reporter for newspapers and magazines, and was a founding editor of Salvage, a newsprint magazine of literature and art. He now hustles for a modest livelihood as an author, podcaster and independent publicist/new media consultant.

He is currently working on a multi-media project and book to document the lives of New York’s tug boat sailors.

“Duncan Crary wrangles these free-wheeling conversations masterfully,” — STEPHEN J. DUBNER, co-author of Freakonomics  and SuperFreakonomics.

“…some of the smartest, most honest urban commentary around—online or off.”
    MICHELE WILSON, Columbia Journalism Review.

“After several years in serious conversation with guru Kunstler, it’s clear that Crary has more than earned his chops in the peak oil and resource-lifestyle conversation…With his smooth on-air voice and relaxed yet informed demeanor, I hope we’ll hear more from this rising cultural observation star in the future.”
